Another week of ups and downs. With the recent medication change I actually felt a bit better than usual, despite the usual side effects of the chemo. I had one Granix shot, on Tuesday. But then BAM, the blood pressure dropped again. I ended up in the ER, once again, for iv meds and iv fluids. At least this time no one freaked out over my labs........
When I go to Oncology on Thursdays, first I do labs. The results of the CBC are a large part of what indicates if I am eligible for chemo that week. While my labs are still somewhat wonky, I was able to complete both the Taxol and Carboplatin. However, my doctor asked the scribe what week I am in treatment. Of course I pipe in with "Week 11!". However, the bubble burst when the doctor explained that this was from the former counting system when I would have been on track. Instead I have been demoted to Week 8. Such a bummer. Ten weeks to go.
I also pleaded for help with the blood pressure issues. I literally am becoming on a first name basis with some of the ER staff, which is truly embarrassing and mortifying. So she changed up my new meds and referred me back to endocrinology. That doctor then changed it up again. I really don't understand what exactly the adrenal glands do but I guess mine are pretty shot. Yet again, cautiously optimistic that this week will be smoother.
Thank you Special Guest Steph for keeping me company during chemo. And thank you to my support family for continuing to raise me up in prayer as well as for the calls, texts, emails, flowers, and food. You all keep us going!
